Green Acres
Green Acres is a hodgepodge of
families and small companies. It houses the Ice factories/fishing
businesses, which mine the fresh water ice, purify and desalinate the
sea water. And yes it has fish, algae that is farmed, and some small
hatchery businesses that provide fertilizer to the farmers. There is
also a forest farm which covers 3/4s of the habitable land. There are
oodles of farms, each one occupying a piece of the inner rim where the
sunshine makes agriculture possible. There are also secondary
businesses that profit off of this cornucopia of food, such as, flour
and rice mills, salt packers, breweries and animal feed factories.
There's always work to be had in the various providers. There is an
estimated 15,000 people living outside the city proper. Villages and
whatnot dotting the landscape doing whatever it is they do best

passage alone.
Spelljammer Passage: Even those spelljamming

gold at similar prices. Inner system travel doesn’t usually cost
more than 50 gp.

Altieri Spelljammer Shipwrights Guild
Also referred to as the Drydock, or simply the
yards, this area is occupied by construction and repair facilities for
ships of almost any size. The Shipyards do not belong to any particular
merchant or noble house, but are instead owned by the Town of Hampton,
which grants the Shipwrights’ Guild a license to carry out their
business here. The real effect of this is a monopoly, since the only
organization that builds or repairs ships is the Guild. The shipyards
include a recruitment area, a Guild Hall, several large cradles for
supporting vessels not designed for dry landings, a large ironworks,
and a couple of vast repair anchors where ships can be worked beneath
the cover of the Spaceport.
The yards are under the authority of lrdana
Shipwright, an ingenious designer and builder who leads the Guild in
Anchor. From a business perspective, ship construction or repair costs
are held at 10% above normal value, but the workmanship is excellent.
With an additional 10% surcharge, the shipwrights can rush a repair or
construction job, cutting one-third off the normal time required for
the job.
Treating the shipwrights rudely or pushing them
around is a very poor idea. They will simply refuse to work on the
offender’s vessels ever again. Presently, there are two Wasps
under construction, a Tradesmen in for repairs, and three other
tradesmen in for maintenance and repainting.
Hampton prices for drydocking a vessel under the spaceport varies on
size with Colossal being 200gp/month. After 6 months of non-payment,
the ship will be sold or scraped, depending on its condition. There are
facilities for those that can't land which are much more expensive
Also outside the Spaceport walls are scattered buildings of various
services, that really aren't doing good tourist business, 2 or 3 taverns,
rooming houses, and the like, mainly for crewmen who are leaving
for space the next day.

The largest business, which is a conglomerate merchantile business,

All this Junk
Owner: Agatha Farmcastle
She owns an asteroid junk yard near Green Acres where the local
scavengers trade and do business. The place has her, a couple of old
codgers that come to play cards with her, and about a dozen dogs.
Codger#1: Sam Gothing - He plays a lot of poker with Agatha Farmcastle at her junk yard, adding
his 2 bloodhounds to her brood, but he's also the grandfather (son is
running the business) of a not so legal smuggling company called the
Happy Fish. Outwardly, they freighter the fish on ice to Anchor for big
bucks. Inwardly, they smuggle whatever they come across. Drugs, slaves,
illegal magics. If you want it smuggled into Anchor or brought home,
this is the way to go and those who want to know, know it.
Codger#2: Frank Fitz - He plays a lot of poker with Agatha Farmcastle at her junk yard, adding
3 bloodhounds to her brood, but he's long retired and alone, as most of
his family died in a landslide that occurred on his property ten years
ago. He's a sad old man, but sharp as a tack.
Hampton Metal Works
Owners: Family Orehammer, Grinstar Orehammer in charge
This is basically a dwarven-owned shop where metal items of all sorts
are crafted for the locals. This is not a smithy, but full blown
metalworks facility where they pour metal into molds.
Griffin Slaughterhouse
Owner: Tiberis Griffin
This business is near Hampton but not part of it. They are near the sea
where fishmen buy their chum and other leftover bits for bait. There
isn't any animal they don't clean and put on ice for transport.
Sauger's Mill
Owner: Charmain Sauger
This is the local mill where many types of grains are ground and sacked, as there are 3 grinders along the river to the sea.

Hampton Catacombs
Caretaker: Sampson
Local Ranger, Sumner Kravitz, tends to roam the plains and is known to
work out of the Barstow Inn, halfway between Sausville and O'Connell
farms some 75 miles west of Hampton.
Other Places of Note:
Sauger's River runs southeast from the northwestern mountains to
the southeastern part of the sea. There are farms, businesses and
fishermen along this river that basically acts like a roadway for them.
The Barrows are an expanse of land that lies some 200 miles west
from Hampton on the west side of Sauger's River and has been scavenged for a long time. The place appears
desolate with sparse hearty grasses dotting the rocky terrain. However,
almost any critter you can worry about has taken over the various rooms
that still exist. This is a former city. One can tell by the corners of
buildings that remain standing and the remnants of crashed jammers.
Other than that, it really is overgrown and mostly rubble. However,
this is what scavenging is all about. The farther west you go, the
rougher the terrain gets to the point that you'd need climbing gear to
traverse it. This area blends into The Monuments.
The Monuments are still the remains of buildings and crashed
jammers but they're tall, stone crumbling monoliths that go on for
several miles. The area is treacherous, even with climbing gear.
Stairways give way, ceilings collapse. The animals, birds and insects
have taken the high places, while larger critters take the rocky climbs
below. Never know when you might unearth something worthwhile.
The Downside is mainly full of the sea. The farthest reaches
have an ice field which never seems to diminish, as this is where most
ice farming occurs.
Darger's Demise is preferrably referred to as such since Darger
died there. Darger was a local hero who adventured with his buddies all
over the place, being scavengers by trade. However that was a very long
time ago and it memorializes the north for what its worth. The terrain
is rough though traversible. Many monsters reside there in their own
ecology and only the brave take them or the local natives on. The
natives vary in race as well, children of the ancestors that survived
the desolation of 300 years ago. Purportedly there are no towns or
villages, at least none have been seen, but because of the locals, most
Hampton folk leave it well enough alone.
The Only Forest lies north and west of Hampton and is the only
expansive forest in the area. Tree farming is prevalent along its
borders with the grazing of animal herds in the outlying plains. These
resources are treasured. No fires are allowed near it, except during
winter for warmth.
Great Crack is exactly that, just west of the Monument. It
doglegs from the volcano southwest then south to the sea. The
Crack has been 'looked over' but not explored, as it appears to have
varying depths up to and over 100 feet deep.
The great Sea Marsh lies
along the southern shore of the coast. There are people who fish it,
bring crocodile and alligator hides, grow various medicinal herbs and
ingredients but there are no settlements proper, just individuals
sprinkled about.
